- Price
- Monthly plans — e.g. TOP 250 PLUS at €9.99/month per the official price sheet (from 1 Jan 2026); a debit or credit card is required to sign up
- Keeping the number
- Iliad service charter 3.3: no use and no top-up for 12 consecutive months deactivates the SIM; the number can be reactivated within the following 12 months (up to 24 months after the last top-up), after which it may be reassigned. Remaining credit can be moved to another Iliad SIM or refunded to a bank account
- ID check
- Official FAQ: Italian ID / electronic ID card, Italian driving licence or a valid passport; bring your codice fiscale if porting a number in
- SMS & calls
- A normal Italian number. Official price sheet (from 1 Jan 2026), roaming in China: SMS sent €0.60, calls received €1.45/min, calls to Italy €1.99/min, data €0.23/MB. “SMS received” is €0 in the Europe table; the per-country table that includes China has no received-SMS column
Pros
- Use or top up once in 12 months; then another 12 months to reclaim
- Passport officially accepted
- Own network, not an MVNO
Watch out
- Monthly plan fee — watch your credit and charges even if you only keep the number
- No separate price listed for receiving SMS in China
